In August 2015, the Arizona State University Chinese Flagship program, in partnership with the ASU Confucius Institute, unveiled a new curricular outreach effort to local high schools called the ASU Chinese Flagship Linkages AP Project (hereafter “ASU Linkages”).
As the name suggests, the effort is ultimately designed with the purpose of fostering a stronger link between Chinese language learners at secondary schools and post-secondary level Chinese education through the Flagship program, with a key component of this link being the AP Chinese Language and Culture exam.
ASU Linkages partnered with a local Chinese weekend school and the Contemporary Chinese School of Arizona (CCSA) in Tempe, as well as four Phoenix-area high schools:
(Deer Valley Unified School District)
(Cave Creek Unified School District)
(Chandler Unified School District)
ASU Linkages published two websites to better aid students and teachers in using Linkages curriculum:
Houses the Cultural Project PowerPoint resources for students, developed by ASU Linkages staff and partner school teachers. Students make frequent use of the site when they prepare for the AP exam.
Serves as primary resource for Chinese teachers, providing them with Linkages-made lesson plans and PowerPoint presentations, which can be used straight from the website during class.
