If you want to be fluent in Chinese, you don’t just need to learn words and grammar principles, you also need to expand your knowledge of Chinese culture, including the global issues that affect the Chinese-speaking world.
With this in mind, we have created a series of resources to help you succeed in attaining linguistic and cultural fluency, equipping you with an interdisciplinary knowledge base, and the Chinese words and phrases you’ll need in order to talk about this knowledge.
We call these resources “Cultural Projects.”
LANGUAGE & IDENTITY
BEING A GLOBAL CITIZEN
FAMILY & SOCIAL TRADITIONS
Cultural Projects are organized into units which address different cultural themes. Each unit contains two topics, each with its own visual presentation that provides a model of paragraph-length discourse on that topic, complete with accompanying audio recordings.
These presentations also contain assignments that will help you prepare specifically for the AP Chinese exam: discussion questions, email response prompts, and cultural presentation prompts.
Use these resources well and you’ll not only prepare yourself for success on the AP Exam, but also be ready for a future as a Chinese-speaking professional.
